1980 Icons and Animation

For my class we were assigned a specific year and told to create 10 icons that helped describe key events that occurred during that year. I was assigned the year 1980 and my 10 events were the following: the Rubiks cube was released globally, PacMan made its debut, Post-it notes were released in the US, The Empire Strikes Back was released, CNN was the first 24 hour live news station, John Lennon was assassinated, MGM Grand Hotel burned down, the Killer Clown was sentenced to death, Mt. St. Helen erupted, and the US amateur hockey team defeated Russia in an Olympic match.

For the motion graphic, I chose to keep an upbeat appearance and feel through pace, color, and music choice to help represent my year. I chose the song “Call Me” by Blondie for my background music since it was the number one hit that year and helped me keep my ‘80s vibe.
