goal
For this project we were required to choose a short story and to create a design using either variable typefaces, large font families, or a typeface we create. I chose to do both a variable typeface and a large font family. We had the options of doing an animated poster, motion graphic, a booklet, a website, and more! I chose to do an animated poster, but how I chose to animate it was more experimental.

concept
I based my poster off of the story “If you give a mouse a cookie” by Laura Numeroff. Instead of using all of the text of the story, I based my designs off of the hidden political message within the text. The hidden message debates if constantly giving to someone when they ask is helping them, or if it’s actually harmful-- to sum it up: welfare. With this in mind, I chose a quote about giving from Anne Frank that states, “No one has ever become poor by giving.” For this quote, I chose a more light hearted feel to give more of a children’s poster vibe. This poster then transforms into a political poster inspired by Russian Constructivism through augmented reality. This political poster uses a quote from Abraham Lincoln that states, “You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could & should do for themselves.”
